BürgerBus brings our region together

The new BürgerBus brings our region together – thanks to all the dedicated volunteers and with BEWITAL as a partner on board.

The BürgerBus Südlohn-Oeding has been an important connection between Stadtlohn, Südlohn, Oeding and Winterswijk in the Netherlands for many years – especially for people without their own vehicle. Since early 2024, a new, modern minibus has been operating on route B7, which boasts barrier-free access, more space for rollators and prams and a comfortable interior. The purchase was also made possible thanks to the support of regional partners – including BEWITAL as an advertising cooperation partner.

The BürgerBus is operated entirely by volunteers: 32 dedicated drivers and an association of 47 people ensure that around 12,000 people reach their destination safely every year. Since 2018, the bus has covered more than 400,000 kilometres – an impressive effort that would not be possible without the voluntary commitment on the ground.

The management team at BEWITAL emphasises: “Our involvement in the new BürgerBus is just a small contribution to the incredible efforts of the many volunteers. Without them, there would be no public transport service to Winterswijk – and many children would have to rely on the taxi of mum and dad to get to the outdoor pool in Stadtlohn.”

Through this partnership, BEWITAL not only gains visibility on the bus, but also shows appreciation for the volunteers who keep the service running every day.

And by the way, the association is still looking for dedicated volunteer drivers.
